Founded on August 9th, 2015, by renowned psychiatrists Dr. M. Sree Prathap MBBS., MRCPsych (Chief Psychiatrist & Medical Director) and Dr. Mythili Prathap MBBS., MRCPsych (Associate Medical Director and Consultant Psychiatrist), both with over 20 years of experience in psychiatric service, trained in the UK. Their extensive expertise and commitment to mental health care drive Shadithya Hospital's mission to serve our community.

Shadithya Child Therapy Centre

In 2017, Dr. Mythili Prathap expanded our services to focus specifically on child and adolescent psychiatry. We offer comprehensive treatment for a wide range of psychiatric disorders, blending advanced therapies with compassionate support. Our multidisciplinary team includes psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, special educators, and counselors, all working together to develop personalized treatment plans tailored to each child’s and adolescent’s unique needs.

Our center is recognized for its excellence in psychiatric care, reflecting our commitment to comprehensive mental health support. We also prioritize mental health education and advocacy through workshops, seminars, and community outreach, promoting understanding and early intervention.

We provide specialized support funded by the Adoption Support Fund for developmental and sensory challenges and accept referrals from various sources throughout Chennai.

Dr. M. Sree Prathap MBBS., MRCPsych

Medical Director & Chief Psychiatrist

Dr M Sree Prathap is a Senior Consultant Psychiatrist.

He is the Founder and Chairman of Shadithya Hospital, which is a tertiary care hospital for psychiatric care.

He is a gold medallist and was the best outgoing student of the medical college. He received the “best doctors award” from IMA in 2020 and “Maruthuva Natchathriram award” by the Tamilnadu medical council in 2021 and Healthcare Excellence Award in 2023.

His special interest is to raise public and professional awareness regarding mental health. He runs a famous you tube channel for the last 5 years- “Psychiatrist Prathap”

He has a strong passion for teaching and has been running a successful revision course for the MRCPsych in the UK for 20 years. He is a Founder and Director-“SPMM course” for the MRCPsych in the UK.(http://spmmcourse.com)

He was passionate to start a good quality psychiatric care service in India and came back to India after working in the UK for 14 years.

Through Shadithya hospital he is able to offer a lot of new services which are now available in India.

Dr. V. Mythili Prathap MBBS., MRCPsych

Associate Medical Director & Consultant Psychiatrist

Dr. Mythili Prathap is a Consultant Psychiatrist with more than 20 years of clinical work experience in psychiatry.

She has worked in UK from 2002 till 2013 and gained experience in various specialties of psychiatry including General Adult Psychiatry, Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry and Forensic Psychiatry.

She has worked in a specialised Eating Disorders unit, Personality Disorder Service, and Brain Injury & Rehabilitation Psychiatry in the UK. In addition, she has obtained formal training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy.

She is one of the directors of SPMM Course Ltd, which offers postgraduate training courses for psychiatric doctors preparing for their MRCPsych exams in the UK.

As a mother of two, she finds great fulfillment in working with children and their families facing psychiatric disorders, aiming to effect positive change in their lives through guidance, supportive counseling, and education.

She is the director of Shadithya Child therapy centre which deals with children and adolescents with mental health difficulties.
